Sarah’s Story

I very much value Moving On as a service in the Inverclyde community and feel that this is a service we should support and feel proud of. I have worked in two other local authorities in Scotland and I have not seen or heard of a third sector service anywhere close to what is being offered at Moving On.

I experienced parental addiction when I was a teenager. My mum was addicted to alcohol, which significantly impacted on her life, as well as that of myself and my younger brother.

In 2017, my mum was referred to Moving On after working with the Wellpark Centre to facilitate community detox. Moving On worked diligently with mum, in order to support her recovery and reintegrate her into the community. Moving On helped mum to find a new normal, rediscover who she is and supported her to give back to the community. I will be forever thankful to Moving On service and staff for giving me my mum back.
